Important Message Ahead!!
Evening Mama's,
I hope you are all doing well and embracing this wonderful time, even with the aches and nerves. If you haven't already I want to encourage you to take a birth education course. As I began planning a new course for expecting parents I was reminded of the awful statistics we face as birthing mothers and especially my fellow BIPOC community.
Getting educated on the physiological norms of birth and getting a doula on your team can have big impacts on your journey.
Hiring a doula can help with the following:
1. Emotional and Physical Support: Doulas provide continuous, personalized emotional and physical support during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, helping reduce anxiety and increase confidence in the birthing process.
2. Better Birth Outcomes: Studies consistently show having a doula can lead to shorter labor, reduced need for pain relief, lower rates of medical interventions (such as C-sections), and improved overall birth satisfaction.
3. Advocacy and Communication: Doulas act as advocates for the birthing person's preferences, helping them navigate communication with healthcare providers, ensuring that their wishes are understood and respected.
4. Partner Support: Offer guidance to partners by empowering them to be involved in the birth process.
5. Postpartum Care: Postpartum support can look like a lot of things. Including: Swaddling assistance, proper baby wearing, burping baby, bathing baby, light housework, meal prep, breastfeeding guidance, newborn care assistance, and emotional support, which can ease the transition into parenthood and reduce the risk of postpartum depression.
6. Informed Decision-Making: Help expectant families access information on birth options and interventions, ensuring that they can make informed choices that align with their values and goals.
In states like Florida we have some of the worst birth statistics, including an almost 1 in 3 chance of cesarean. A major surgery that is best avoided if possible.
Even if a doula isnt in your cards right now, take the birth education course. It can very well change the outcome for you and your baby.
Birth doesn't have to be scary or hard, lets release those fears and find our divine power in the birth process. Remember the discomfort you may feel cannot be stronger than you because IT IS YOU.
Sending you heaps of love. If you feel called or have more questions please reach out via email to bloomingbirthfl@gmail.com . It would be a privledge to be apart of your birth journey.
